Tall ship models are models of traditional sailing vessels engaged in historical sailing research or \"windjammer\" charter operations such as stationary museum ships and vessels no longer in existence. Often times its the bottom line that has to register the most strongly with a manufacturing company. Put in stronger terms the reason is to increase the profit margins also known as we need to \"make more money\"! Dont get me wrong; to stay in business all manufacturers have to make a fair profit. Most manufacturers of ship models provide a good quality product for a reasonable price. They do need to place a little more consideration on the needs of builders. This would certainly help in growing the hobby and their market share. Another frustration for builders is manufacturers that are still providing only die-cut parts in their ship model kits. Die-cut parts have a tendency to become less accurate with the greater number of parts produced and they are frequently difficult to work with.
The differences between a cruise ship and ocean liner are large and noticeable. Ocean liners usually take passengers on trips from one point to another while cruises are round trip journeys with a greater amount of food and fuel required. Ocean liners are also built stronger and with larger capacities in general but lack many of the luxurious amenities that cruises have such as multiple pools or shops. Both ocean liners and cruises however are nearly identical in build and shape to each other. Several extremely famous ships are the Titanic her sister the Olympic and the Mauritania. As of this year 2011 the largest ship of this type in the world is the MS Allure of the Seas.
